The PVL is back, with opening-day matches on Saturday, October 10. If you’ve ever watched a PVL game and wondered how betting on it works, this PVL betting guide walks you through it from the start.
ArenaPlus is the official sportsbook partner of the Premier Volleyball League, so you can follow PVL matches and bet on them in one place. Below, we explain how a PVL match is won, the four volleyball markets you’ll find on ArenaPlus, how to work out a payout, and how to place your first bet.
This guide is for information only. Betting always carries risk, and no market or approach guarantees a win.
Every volleyball market is built on the scoring rules, so it helps to know them before you look at the odds.
A PVL match is played as a best of five sets. The first team to win three sets wins the match, so a match can end 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2.
The first four sets are played to 25 points, and the fifth set, if needed, is played to 15. In every set, a team must win by at least two points. At 24-24, play continues until one team leads by two, so a set can finish 26-24, 28-26 or even longer.
Volleyball also uses rally scoring: every rally earns a point for one team, no matter who served.
Here’s how each rule connects to the markets on ArenaPlus:
| Rule | What it means for betting |
|---|---|
| Best of five sets | A three-set match has far fewer points than a five-set match, which matters for Total points |
| Sets to 25, fifth set to 15 | Gives a rough idea of how many points a set or match usually produces |
| Win by two | Close sets can run past 25 points, pushing set and match totals higher |
| Rally scoring | The score changes on every rally, so live odds can move after every point |

A market is a specific question you can bet on, such as who wins the match. Each market has possible outcomes, and each outcome has its own odds. ArenaPlus offers four volleyball markets, shown here with the exact names you’ll see in the app.
Winner is the simplest market: you pick which team wins the match. You may know this as a moneyline bet from other sports.
For example, for the PVL opening-day match between the Creamline Cool Smashers and the Akari Chargers, ArenaPlus listed these odds (as of October 5, 2026):
Lower odds mean the bookmaker sees that team as more likely to win, so it pays less. Higher odds mean the bookmaker sees that team as less likely to win, so it pays more if it does.
Total points is about the score, not the winner. You bet on whether both teams’ points, added together, will finish Over or Under a set line, such as 179.5.
Lines end in .5 because a match can’t finish with half a point. The total always lands clearly above or below the line, so there’s no tie.
The number of sets makes a big difference:
Lines are set match by match, so the number you see for a PVL game may differ from this example. For more on how these lines work, read our guide to over/under betting.
First set – winner works like the Winner market, but only for Set 1. Your bet is settled as soon as the first set ends, whatever happens in the rest of the match.
First set – total points asks whether Set 1 will have more or fewer points than a set line, such as 44.5. Here’s how set scores turn into totals:
| First set score | Total points | Result vs 44.5 |
|---|---|---|
| 25-19 | 44 | Under |
| 25-20 | 45 | Over |
| 27-25 | 52 | Over |
The last row shows the win-by-two rule at work: a close set that goes past 25 points pushes the total up.
Not every match shows all four markets, and markets can appear at different times. In the days before a match, you may see only Winner, with other markets added later. Check the match page on ArenaPlus to see what’s available.
ArenaPlus shows odds in decimal format, which makes payouts easy to work out:
Stake × odds = total return
The total return includes your stake. To find your profit, subtract the stake from the total return.
Here’s what a ₱500 bet would return on each team in the two PVL opening-day matches:
| Team | Odds | ₱500 returns | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creamline Cool Smashers | 1.40 | ₱700 | ₱200 |
| Akari Chargers | 2.54 | ₱1,270 | ₱770 |
| Choco Mucho Flying Titans | 1.70 | ₱850 | ₱350 |
| Capital1 Solar Spikers | 1.95 | ₱975 | ₱475 |
Disclaimer: Odds as of October 5, 2026, and subject to change. Returns are shown only if the bet wins; a losing bet loses the full stake.
Odds can move before a match starts and during live play, so the odds on your bet slip when you confirm are the ones that count. To learn about other odds formats, read our guide on how decimal and American odds work.
Placing a PVL bet takes five steps:
The app uses shorter team names, so look for these:
| Full team name | Name in the app |
|---|---|
| Creamline Cool Smashers | Cool Smashers (W) |
| Akari Chargers | Akari Chargers (W) |
| Capital1 Solar Spikers | Solar Spikers (W) |
| Choco Mucho Flying Titans | Choco Mucho Flying Titans (W) |

You can also bet on some PVL matches while they’re being played. Look for the orange IN-PLAY tag beside a match in the list.ArenaPlus also streams PVL matches live, so you can watch the game and follow the odds in the same app
Because volleyball uses rally scoring, the score changes on every rally, and live odds can move after every point. The odds on your bet slip when you confirm are the ones that count.
On eligible bets, you may also be able to cash out before the match ends. To learn how it works, read our guide to live betting and cash out on ArenaPlus.
Yes. ArenaPlus is the official sportsbook partner of the PVL. You’ll find PVL matches under Volleyball, then Philippines, then PVL.
ArenaPlus offers four volleyball markets: Winner, Total points, First set – winner and First set – total points. Not every match shows all four, so check the match page.
All points scored by both teams, in every set played, are added together. A three-set match usually has far fewer points than a five-set match. For unfamiliar terms, see our betting terms glossary.
Yes, on matches marked with the IN-PLAY tag. Live odds can change after every rally.
The minimum deposit on ArenaPlus is ₱500, and the maximum is ₱50,000 per transaction. You can deposit via GCash, Maya or over-the-counter options.
PVL betting on ArenaPlus comes down to four markets. Winner and Total points cover the whole match, while First set – winner and First set – total points cover Set 1 only. Once you know how the scoring rules shape each market, reading the odds and working out a payout is simple.
