The top four reach the semifinals, and the top two get a twice-to-beat advantage. The series crowns its own champion.

Sigla: the same format, with its own champion.

Sinag (around March to April 2027): points earned in Siklab and Sigla decide seeding. The top two go straight to the best-of-three semifinals, and the rest work through a stepladder. The final winner is the Philippine Grand Champion.

Two things make Siklab different. Every player on a roster must play at least three rallies (the all-to-play rule), which tests depth (PVL); the rule is dropped for Sigla (PNA). And because standings points carry over, every Siklab win also counts toward the Grand Championship race.

What twice-to-beat means: in the semifinals, No. 1 plays No. 4 and No. 2 plays No. 3. The higher seed only needs to win one of two games, while the lower seed has to win both. The series final and third-place match are best-of-three (Wikipedia).

How PVL teams are ranked

Teams are ranked first by wins, then by match points (Wikipedia):

Result

Winner gets

Loser gets

3-0 or 3-1

3 points

0 points

3-2

2 points

1 point

If teams are still tied, the next tiebreakers are set ratio (sets won divided by sets lost), then point ratio (rally points won divided by points lost). If a tie remains, the same steps are applied using only matches between the tied teams.

That is why a five-set win can cost a team ground: two teams with the same record can sit apart in the table because one won in three or four sets and earned the extra point.

The nine PVL teams

Team

Head coach

Captain

Akari Chargers

Tina Salak

Justine Jazareno

Capital1 Solar Spikers

Jorge de Brito

Pauline Gaston

Choco Mucho Flying Titans

Dante Alinsunurin

Desiree Cheng

Creamline Cool Smashers

Sherwin Meneses

Alyssa Valdez

Farm Fresh Foxies

Koji Tsuzurabara

Louie Romero

Galeries Tower Highrisers

Aying Esteban

TBA

Nxled Chameleons

Ettore Guidetti

Brooke Van Sickle

PLDT High Speed Hitters

Rald Ricafort

Kath Arado

Zus Coffee Thunderbelles

Jerry Yee

Cloanne Mondoñedo

Source: Wikipedia, as of October 2026.
