The MPBL brings professional basketball to cities and provinces across the country, and its games are also open for sports betting. This guide explains how the league and its playoffs work, how to read MPBL odds, and which markets are available.
All dates and times are in Philippine time.
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a professional men’s basketball league made up of teams that represent Philippine cities and provinces. First played in 2018, it splits its teams into a North Division and a South Division. The 2026 season is its eighth season and its fifth as a professional league.
The 2026 season started with 28 teams, and 26 finished the regular season after two franchises were removed mid-season. Many teams have home arenas in their cities or provinces, while other games are played at neutral venues.
An MPBL season has three stages: a regular season, a play-in tournament, and the playoffs. In the regular season, every team plays each other once. The top six teams in each division go straight to the playoffs, the next four fight for the last two spots, and the division champions meet in the national Finals.
| Stage | 2026 dates | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Regular season | April 10 to September 22 | Round robin; every team plays each other once |
| Play-in tournament | Late September | Teams ranked 7th to 10th in each division play for the 7th and 8th seeds |
| Division quarterfinals | From early October | Best-of-three |
| Division semifinals | After the quarterfinals | Best-of-three |
| Division finals | After the semifinals | Best-of-five |
| National Finals | December | Best-of-seven; North champion vs. South champion |
The 2026 season is the first with a best-of-seven national Finals. The full playoff schedule is released round by round, so check the league’s official channels for game dates.
MPBL odds on ArenaPlus are shown as decimal odds, which tell you the potential total return from a winning bet, including your stake. A winning ₱100 bet at odds of 1.80 returns ₱180, while a winning ₱100 bet at 2.05 returns ₱205. Odds can change before and during a game as markets update.
To find the potential profit, subtract your stake from the return. In the examples above, that is ₱80 at 1.80 and ₱105 at 2.05.
Lower odds mean the market sees an outcome as more likely, so the return is smaller. Higher odds mean the market sees it as less likely, so the return is bigger if it happens. Neither guarantees a result.
ArenaPlus offers the same betting markets for MPBL games as for other basketball leagues, though availability varies by game. The main markets are Moneyline, Handicap (spread), Over/Under (total points), Player-based markets, and Futures. Each one settles on a different result, from the final winner to a player’s stats or a season outcome.
| Market | What it means |
|---|---|
| Moneyline | A bet on which team will win the game |
| Handicap (spread) | A points adjustment applied to the teams, with the result determined by the final margin |
| Over/Under (total points) | A bet on whether the combined score of both teams will be above or below a set line |
| Player-based markets | Bets on individual player statistics, such as points, rebounds, or assists |
| Futures | Bets on season outcomes or awards, which are settled later in the season |
For a closer look at how lines and totals are set and settled, read the guide to handicap and over/under betting.
Live betting lets you place bets after a game has started. You can follow the score and bet on the markets that remain open during play, which depend on the game.
Betting on an MPBL game on ArenaPlus takes a few steps: log in, find the MPBL under Sports and then Basketball, choose a game and a market, add your selection to the bet slip, enter your stake, and confirm. Before confirming, check the odds and potential return shown on the bet slip so you know exactly what you are placing.
