The most common betting terms in Tagalog are taya and pusta (bet), panalo and talo (win and lose), and llamado and dehado (favorite and underdog). Most betting market and app labels, such as Spread, Total, and Bet Slip, stay in English.
This glossary pairs each English term with the Tagalog word Filipino fans use, plus a plain meaning, covering sports betting, online casino, and the ArenaPlus app.
“Bet” in Tagalog is usually taya or pusta. Taya means the money you put on an outcome, and tumaya means to place a bet. Pusta also means a bet or wager, with pumusta as the verb. Pustahan refers to betting in general, or a bet made between people.
| English | Tagalog | Example |
| Bet, stake | Taya | Magkano ang taya mo? (How much is your bet?) |
| To bet | Tumaya | Tumaya ako sa San Miguel. (I bet on San Miguel.) |
| Bet, wager | Pusta | Malaki ang pusta niya sa laro. (He made a big bet on the game.) |
| To place a bet | Pumusta | Pumusta siya sa over. (She bet on the over.) |
| Betting | Pustahan | Tapos na ang pustahan bago mag-tip-off. (Betting closed before tip-off.) |
| Bettor | Mananaya | Para lang sa 21 pataas ang mga mananaya. (Bettors must be 21 and over.) |
In everyday use, taya and pusta are often interchangeable.
These terms appear in every kind of betting, from a single PBA bet to a slot spin. Some have everyday Tagalog equivalents, like panalo and talo, while others, like odds, are used in English even in Tagalog conversation. Knowing both makes it easier to follow betting talk and read the app.
| English | Tagalog | Meaning |
| Win | Panalo | Your bet’s outcome happened, and you get paid. |
| Lose | Talo | Your bet’s outcome didn’t happen, and the stake is gone. |
| Draw, tie | Tabla | Neither side wins; how a bet settles depends on the market. |
| Odds | Odds | The price that sets how much a winning bet pays. |
| Payout, return | Bayad, balik | What you receive from a winning bet, including your stake. |

| Gambling | Sugal | Staking money on an uncertain outcome. |
ArenaPlus supports six odds formats, including decimal odds, where a winning ₱100 bet at 1.80 returns ₱180.
Sports betting has the most terms, because each market works differently. These are the terms you’ll tap most often, from finding a game to confirming a bet and verifying your account. ArenaPlus is a PAGCOR-licensed online sportsbook, so every account goes through the same verification and limits.
